Fikret Otar, who lived in the Efeler district of Aydın, was found dead in his home, having been shot with a firearm. The death of Otar, who won the 4 million lira grand prize in the National Lottery in 1974 when he was just 27 years old, has caused sadness in the neighborhood.

The incident occurred in a two-story building on Krizantem Street in the Tepecik neighborhood. Following reports of a gunshot being heard, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address.

Police and crime scene investigation teams are seen in front of the building where the incident took place in Efeler, Aydın.

Upon entering the house, the teams found 79-year-old Otar lying on the floor in his bedroom, covered in blood. Medical teams confirmed that Otar had passed away. Initial examinations by the crime scene investigation team determined that Otar died from a shotgun wound.

It was learned that his wife, Nebahat Otar, who was in the house at the time of the incident, is hearing-impaired and did not hear the gunshot.

HE HAD WON THE GRAND PRIZE YEARS AGO

It was stated that Fikret Otar was the winner of the 4 million lira grand prize in the 1974 National Lottery draw. It was learned that with the money he won, Otar purchased apartments, shops, and buses used for intercity transportation in İzmir and Aydın.

It was reported that Otar, who was said to have been in a good economic situation for many years, sold his real estate and vehicles over time. After losing his fortune, he reportedly began living with his wife in his two-story family home in Efeler.

Allegedly, Otar saw that the house, for which he had transferred the title deed to his son some time ago, had been put up for sale. It is claimed that one day before his death, while at a coffeehouse, he told his friends, "I don't want to leave my home, but my son is selling it. This makes me very sad. You might not see me again."
