Major fruit juice brand on the brink of bankruptcy! Will it be sold?
In a general assembly call made on December 14, 2024, Aroma announced an important agenda item regarding the transfer of the company's real estate, machinery and equipment, brand rights, and licenses. This confirms the behind-the-scenes reports regarding the sale of Aroma.
The potential sale of Aroma Bursa Meyve Suları ve Gıda Sanayi A.Ş., founded in Bursa in 1968, has come to the agenda. The following agenda item in the general assembly announcement made by the Board of Directors of Aroma Bursa Meyve Suları ve Gıda Sanayii Anonim Şirketi on December 14, 2024, drew attention:
"Discussion of the transfer and sale of the real estate located at Bursa Province, Gürsu District, Kurtuluş Neighborhood, OSB Location, Block 3164, Parcel 3; Bursa Province, Gürsu District, Kurtuluş Neighborhood, OSB Location, Block 3173, Parcel 2; Bursa Province, Kestel District, Derekızık Neighborhood, Danalanı Location, Block 1131, Parcel 18; Bursa Province, Kestel District, Derekızık Neighborhood, Danalanı Location, Block 1131, Parcel 1; Bursa Province, Kestel District, Derekızık Neighborhood, Danalanı Location, Block 1131, Parcel 17, as well as all kinds of machinery, equipment, fixtures, buildings, infrastructure and superstructure arrangements at these addresses, and the company's brand rights, licenses, and all kinds of rights and permits to the Board of Directors."

NO OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE COMPANY
While this item in the general assembly announcement, which was also published on ilan.gov.tr, raises the question "What is happening?", there has been no official statement from the company on the matter yet. In a report by İdriz Çokal published in Para Magazine at the beginning of the week, it was stated that "It is reported that the Duruk Family has sold Aroma, one of Turkey's oldest brands, to Doğuş Çay. Since no official statement has been made yet, we cannot state it clearly, but let us note that the food industry is currently talking about this sale," which was included as behind-the-scenes information. The announcement made by the company confirms this report.
According to a report in Dünya Newspaper, rumors that the company had filed for concordat have also been discussed in economic circles in recent days, but there has been no official application or statement confirming this. Speaking to Sabah newspaper in November 2018, Duruk had said, "A bank will hardly bankrupt you. A concordat is real opportunism. The business world is abusing this. Families who file for a concordat cannot erase that stain. The family is wiping out the reputation of future generations. Everyone is doing this like a fashion right now, but it is a big mistake."
