CHP Deputy Chairman Gökhan Zeybek stated that he delivered the news to CHP Chairman Özgür Özel during the visit of AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to the CHP Headquarters after an 18-year hiatus, while Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek shared the information that Kocagöz would take his place at tomorrow's Metropolitan Council meeting.

The trial of 12 defendants, including Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz from the CHP, 5 of whom were in custody, continued at the 6th High Criminal Court regarding the cable car accident in Antalya that left 1 person dead and 7 injured.

The court decided to keep defendant Suphi Kaplan in custody, while also ruling for the continued detention of Serkan Yellice, Okan Erol, Ahmet Buğra Samsunlu, and Serdar Tezcan.

The court panel, which decided to release Kepez Mayor Mesut Kocagöz pending trial with a travel ban, adjourned the hearing to a later date to address missing procedural requirements.

High-ranking CHP officials accompanied the group that filled the courtroom and the courthouse. CHP Deputy Chairman Gökhan Zeybek, who came to Antalya for Kocagöz's hearing, said, "Our Mayor Mesut Kocagöz, who was elected Kepez Mayor by the votes of the people, has been released today with the decision rendered by the court.

He will complete the exit procedures from the prison where he is being held and will come to the Kepez Municipality to greet the citizens. He remained in custody for a long time after the cable car accident that occurred on April 12; we believe he was held in custody unjustly.

Although late, the release decision rendered by the court in his favor today has been a fresh start for the services he will provide to Kepez. He endured difficult conditions and suffered significant weight loss due to health issues. We welcome the release decision with satisfaction.

As soon as we received the news, we conveyed the release decision to our Chairman Özgür Özel, who was in a meeting with our President. We will celebrate the decision made by the court today together with the district residents waiting in front of the Kepez Municipality, the municipal employees, and most importantly, his dear family," he stated.

Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Muhittin Böcek said, "We were expecting justice to be served; Mesut Kocagöz will take his place at the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Council Meeting tomorrow, and we will continue to govern the city together."
