Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, regarding the release of former HDP Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş—who was sentenced to 42 years in prison in the Kobani case and has not been released despite the finalization of the ECHR violation ruling against him—stated, "The European Court of Human Rights ruling will be evaluated by the relevant court. The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rejected Turkey's appeal regarding the Demirtaş ruling, which requested a re-examination by the ECHR Grand Chamber,and the ruling on the violation of rights concerning Demirtaş has become final.

Despite the fact that the ruling regarding Demirtaş has become final, he has notyet been released.

Minister Tunç, in his speech at theGrand National Assembly of Turkey, spoke as follows regarding the ECHR rulingissued aboutDemirtaş:

"The European Court of Human Rights ruling will be evaluated by the relevant court.

The concerned parties have also made their applications regarding this matter.

For us to interfere with the judiciary here,for the ministry to intervene,of theprocess, interventionisout of the question."
