New development in the Barış Boyun case! Indictment prepared

The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has prepared a comprehensive indictment regarding an armed criminal organization led by Barış Boyun, who is currently detained in Italy, and stated to be managed in Turkey by Bayram Demir, Tolga Gültepe, Zafer Boyun, Bahadır Akdağ, and Beratcan Gökdemir.

The 574-page indictment includes 8 victims, 136 complainants, 6 complainant-suspects, and 305 suspects. The indictment details 95 criminal acts carried out by the organization.

AGGRAVATED LIFE SENTENCE REQUESTED FOR BARIŞ BOYUN

According to the report by Cumhuriyet, the indictment requests an aggravated life sentence, 3 life sentences, and a prison term ranging from 147 years and 10 months to 304 years and 9 months for Barış Boyun for crimes including "Establishing and managing an armed criminal organization for the purpose of committing crimes," "Premeditated murder," "Extortion," "Intentional injury," "Unlawful acquisition of personal data," "Damage to property," and "Violation of the Law on Firearms."

High prison sentences are also being sought for other members of the organization for similar crimes.

CASE SENT TO ANOTHER COURT

The prepared indictment was sent to the Istanbul 16th High Criminal Court. However, after examining the indictment, the court determined that there are ongoing cases in the Istanbul 37th High Criminal Court regarding the criminal organization led by Barış Boyun. Therefore, the indictment was referred to the 37th High Criminal Court with a request for the files to be merged.

The 37th High Criminal Court will examine the indictment and decide whether it will be merged with the existing cases. If a merger decision is made, 311 suspects will be tried as defendants.

WHO IS BARIŞ BOYUN?

Barış Boyun was born in 1984. He is the leader of an organized crime group. The organization, which was active as a neighborhood gang in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district, later expanded its criminal activities to international relations. The organization is known for murders committed by a motorcycle-borne assassination squad.

Barış Boyun, who acted together with mafia figure Bilal Yaman before 2017, became the leader of the organized crime group he was part of following Bilal Yaman's arrest in 2017. According to the prosecutor's indictment, the organization's financial sources are arms trafficking, illegal betting, and drug trafficking.

Barış Boyun and his affiliated gangs act as subcontractors for mafia groups in the Balkans, committing murders in exchange for money.

The gang conducts propaganda through social media accounts and recruits young people between the ages of 20 and 25 from Anatolian towns as hitmen for the gang.

The gang affiliated with Barış Boyun has clashed with 4 different gangs, and according to data in the press, 20 people have lost their lives between the parties.

CRIMINAL INCIDENTS OF THE GANG

The first known murder by the organization, which is responsible for 10 homicides, occurred on October 21, 2021. Kubilay Küçükaslan was killed by the gang as he was leaving a restaurant.

On April 16, 2022, Yüksel Usta, a stand leader for Kasımpaşaspor who was also a member of the Emrah Ayverdi Gang, was killed by the motorcycle squad of the Hüseyin Daltonlar Gang.

Jovan Vukotiç, one of the leaders of the Skaljari, a major drug gang active in Serbia, was killed by the organization's motorcycle squad on September 8, 2022.

Yasin Keskin, who worked at a famous nightclub in Istanbul, was killed by Barış Boyun's hitmen in an armed attack in front of the nightclub on September 22, 2022. The attack was directed at the Anucur Gang led by Halil Ay.

A person named Halil Güzel, a member of Ferhat Mardin's gang, was killed by the Barış Boyun gang in Bahçelievler on October 15, 2022.

A person named Murat Fırat Canlı, who was a member of another criminal organization, was killed in Beyoğlu on November 20, 2022.

On October 18, 2022, Edip Yalçın, who was affiliated with Barış Boyun's gang, was killed in Georgia as a result of an attack of unknown origin.

On December 19, 2022, the Anucur Gang carried out an armed attack on the Daltonlar Gang. Mehmet Emin Kalkan, a member of the Daltonlar Gang, was killed in the attack.

On December 24, 2022, in Kağıthane, the Daltonlar Gang carried out an attack with a motorcycle squad on a cafe affiliated with the Anucur Gang. Ramazan Arslan, a Quran course teacher who had no connection to the incident, was caught in the crossfire and died.

On January 14, 2023, the Daltonlar Gang carried out an armed attack on Anucur Gang leader Halil Ay on the Haliç Bridge. While Halil Ay survived, Cumali Arslan, who was with him, lost his life.

On February 2, 2023, auto gallery owner Ferhat Yeşilkaya was killed by gang members in Şişli.

On May 23, 2023, Emircan Yılmaz, who was affiliated with Barış Boyun's gang, was killed in Abkhazia as a result of an attack of unknown origin.

On August 6, 2023, Halil Ay, who was a fugitive in France, was attacked by Gülbey Dilsiz, a member of the Daltonlar Gang, at the farm where he was hiding. Both Halil Ay and Gülbey Dilsiz were killed in the attack.

On September 11, 2023, in Athens, the capital of Greece, 6 people belonging to the gang were attacked with Kalashnikov rifles while inside a vehicle and died at the scene. It was determined that the vehicle used in the attack had fake license plates and that those who died inside were carrying fake passports.

According to allegations, a former MİT member who had been dismissed from his profession was going to take Barış Boyun's men to Italy via Greece. Later, the location of the gang was reported to Barış Boyun's rivals by the former MİT member.

The Athens assassination was carried out by motorcycle-borne individuals in the style of the Daltonlar Gang.

Ten days after the murder, on September 21, 2023, 10 people from the Daltonlar Gang were arrested by the police while preparing for revenge. It was determined that two of those arrested were the brothers of Abdurrahman Tekrü, who died in the Athens assassination.
