WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Initially established as an online gaming platform, Çiftlik Bank eventually turned into a system where hundreds of thousands of users invested. Users showed interest in this platform with the promise that they could earn real money in exchange for frequent visits by purchasing various animals in a virtual environment with the money they invested.
77,843 people who invested money in the system in the hope of earning more realized they had been defrauded when they could not even get back the amounts they had invested. According to the report of the Capital Markets Board, a total of 511 million TL was collected from 77,843 people, and 393.3 million TL was repaid to 62,877 people from this amount. It was stated that the remaining money was transferred to Cyprus and to the accounts of Çiftlik Bank CEO Mehmet Aydın and his wife.
Mehmet Aydın, known by the nickname 'Tosuncuk', was extradited to Turkey from Brazil, while his brother Fatih Aydın was also caught in Uruguay and brought to Turkey. In the "Çiftlik Bank" investigation, tens of thousands of years of imprisonment are requested on the grounds that the Aydın brothers defrauded a total of 4 thousand 582 people.
