A new era in transportation! Ankara-Samsun travel time to drop to 2.5 hours
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 120-kilometer Delice-Çorum section, a key part of the Ankara-Samsun High-Speed Railway Project, will be held on June 14. Once the line is completed, the travel time between the two cities will decrease to 2.5 hours, and a high-speed rail connection will be established between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the "Delice-Çorum" section of the Ankara-Kırıkkale-Çorum-Samsun High-Speed Railway Project, which will reduce the travel time between Ankara and Samsun to 2.5 hours, will take place on June 14. The 120-kilometer Delice-Çorum section, which will be implemented as part of the railway project to be built on the Kırıkkale-Çorum-Merzifon-Samsun route, will play a significant role in connecting the Black Sea to Central Anatolia and Mediterranean ports via high-speed rail lines.
GROUNDBREAKING ON JUNE 14
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that they will hold the groundbreaking ceremony for the Delice-Çorum section of the "Ankara-Kırıkkale-Çorum-Samsun High-Speed Railway Project" on June 14. Noting that approximately 8 million more people will gain access to the comfort of high-speed rail, Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that the project is strategic not only regionally but also nationally, and said the following:
"We continue to strengthen the railway backbone that connects our country from east to west and north to south. The 120-kilometer Delice-Çorum section, which we will implement as part of the railway project to be built on the Kırıkkale-Çorum-Merzifon-Samsun route, will play a significant role in connecting the Black Sea to Central Anatolia and Mediterranean ports via high-speed rail lines."
WILL BE INTEGRATED WITH THE SARP RAILWAY PROJECT
Pointing out that the project will also be integrated with the Samsun-Sarp High-Speed Railway Project, Uraloğlu emphasized that the line is an important part of the high-speed railway corridor that will extend from Samsun-Çorum-Delice-Kırşehir-Aksaray-Ulukışla-Yenice to the Port of Mersin.
Uraloğlu stated that they are creating a high-capacity, fast, and environmentally friendly transport network between the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, adding, "Within the scope of this network, Artvin, followed by Rize, Trabzon, Giresun, Ordu, Samsun, Amasya, and Çorum will be included in our Ankara-centered national high-speed railway network. Kırşehir, Aksaray, Niğde, and Mersin will also be included in this network as the line continues."
DESIGNED FOR SPEEDS OF 200 KILOMETERS PER HOUR
Reporting that the section between Delice and Çorum is designed for speeds of 200 kilometers per hour and will include 8 bored tunnels, 26 bridges and viaducts, 16 overpasses, and 84 underpasses, Uraloğlu also emphasized that a siding (a railway track parallel to the main line) will be built in Alacahöyük.
WILL REDUCE TRAVEL TIME TO 2.5 HOURS
Uraloğlu stated that 5 stations will be built within the scope of the line: Delice Passenger and Freight, Sungurlu Organized Industrial Zone (OSB)-Freight, Sungurlu Passenger, Çorum Freight, and Çorum Passenger. Noting that with the completion of the Delice-Çorum section and the planned 173-kilometer Çorum-Merzifon-Samsun sections, the travel time between Ankara and Samsun will drop to 2.5 hours, Uraloğlu said, "We aim to transport 12 million passengers and 14 million tons of freight annually on the line between Ankara and Samsun."
