New footage emerges from factory explosion in Sakarya

30 people were injured in an explosion at a pasta factory located in the Hendek district of Sakarya, with 6 of them reported to be in serious condition.

Sakarya Governor Yaşar Karadeniz shared the latest information regarding the condition of the injured following the explosion.

The incident occurred for reasons yet to be determined at the factory operating near the Hendek toll booths on the Anatolian Motorway.

Following the explosion, fires broke out in various sections of the factory.

Upon notification, numerous ambulances and fire crews were dispatched to the scene. With the intensive intervention of the teams, the fire was brought under control and extinguished.

In his statement, Governor Karadeniz noted that 6 of the injured are in serious condition, 2 have been intubated, and 5 have been discharged. Footage from the factory regarding the explosion has also emerged. The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.

IDENTITY OF THE DECEASED WORKER DETERMINED

Following the explosion at the pasta factory in the Hendek district of Sakarya, the family of worker Mesut Simay could not find him despite visiting all the hospitals.

The family was called to the autopsy center to identify the male body that was found burned on the stairs on the 5th floor of the factory and subsequently taken to the autopsy center.

After the family's identification, it was determined that the deceased person was Mesut Simay. It was learned that a DNA analysis will be conducted at the forensic medicine institution for definitive identification.
