Önder Sav reveals details of the dialogue between Sayan and Kılıçdaroğlu: It would be very shameful

Stating that 16 years ago is different from today, Sav said, "Especially after looking at what Kılıçdaroğlu has done following the decision of absolute nullity today, it would of course be very shameful for me to say 'I do not regret it'."

Önder Sav said, "16 years ago, after Mr. Baykal's resignation, it was of course necessary to look for a way out in that chaotic environment. As secretary general, even though almost all of our Central Executive Board members wanted Mr. Baykal, I saw benefit in Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu becoming chairman. But now, especially after looking at what has happened and what Kılıçdaroğlu has done following the decision of absolute nullity today, it would of course be very shameful for me to say 'I do not regret it'."

SAYAN HAD SAID, "YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE LISTENED TO ÖNDER SAV"

At the funeral of Deniz Baykal's wife, Olcay Baykal, AKP member Sayan had addressed Kılıçdaroğlu, saying, "Mr. Chairman, may your path be clear. You are well, aren't you? If you had listened to me the night I dropped you off at home, none of this would have happened. You should not have listened to Önder Sav. I told you that night."

Following Sayan's words, a statement came from former CHP Secretary General Sav. Speaking to Sözcü TV, Sav said, "His words suggest that they spoke before Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu announced his candidacy for chairman and that he warned him. It is understood that Sayan said, 'You step down, let Deniz Baykal come. Later, the party will make you chairman.' One should not compare the events at the time Baykal was forced to resign with today in 2026. The political events of 16 years ago were different; at this stage we have reached, evaluations 16 years later will be different. One must look at it from this stage."
