Özel visits Tayfun Kahraman's family in support: Law enforcement had used violence

Özel visits Tayfun Kahraman's family in support: Law enforcement had used violence

CHP leader Özgür Özel visited Tayfun Kahraman's wife, Meriç Demir, and daughter, Vera Kahraman.

Özel made a statement regarding the visit on his social media account.

Özel stated, "We are together with his dear wife, Meriç Demir Kahraman, to get information about the mistreatment of Tayfun Kahraman, who is unjustly imprisoned in Silivri Prison on behalf of all of us, and to spend some pleasant time with his dear daughter Vera, whom we are concerned might be negatively affected by what she has heard. On Monday, we will file a criminal complaint with evidence and will follow up on what happened through all authorities, channels, and stages."

There was an outpouring of reaction on social media against the mistreatment applied by law enforcement personnel.

Following the news of the incident, a judicial investigation was launched by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and an administrative investigation was launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the personnel who took Tayfun Kahraman to the hospital.
