A message regarding this development came from CHP Chairman Özgür Özel. In his message, Özel stated the following:
"The decision to commute the sentences of the convicted generals Çetin Doğan, Çevik Bir, Fevzi Türkeri, Yıldırım Türker, Cevat Temel Özkaynak, and Erol Özkasnak, who suffer from advanced illnesses, is a delayed but correct step.
