People's Alliance partner HÜDA PAR Chairman Zekariya Yapıcıoğlu, in a television program he attended on September 12, stated that the unchangeable articles are not correct in terms of legal technique and politics, using the expression, "Having unchangeable articles is placing a mortgage on the will of future generations."

Yapıcıoğlu's demand to change Article 4, which is among the unchangeable articles of the current constitution, suddenly stirred things up.

CHP Chairman Özgür Özel criticized HÜDA PAR's calls for constitutional amendment and those on a "nationalist-conservative" line for opposing Article 4 of the Constitution.

AKP Spokesperson Ömer Çelik, in his statement regarding Yapıcıoğlu's proposals, emphasized that discussions on this issue were closed, saying, "There is no discussion whatsoever regarding the fundamental principles in the first 4 articles of the Constitution."

As if the reactions from the AKP were not seen as sufficient, this time Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş appeared and put an end to the 'Article 4' debates with his 'unnecessary' remark in an interview.

In an interview he gave about two weeks ago, Kurtulmuş had explained how they, as a party, viewed this proposal by their partner HÜDA PAR as follows:

"I would like to express that almost all of the parties represented in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM) are in agreement regarding the first four articles, and that the discussions to be held would be an unnecessary waste of time. As the TBMM Presidency, we consider ourselves obligated to ensure a period where the views of the parties in Parliament are taken and the process is conducted transparently, alongside taking the views of universities, legal circles, and NGOs."

This statement by Numan Kurtulmuş had put an end to the constitutional debates at that time. Kurtulmuş, who was set to hold meetings with political parties to discuss a new constitution, confused everyone and became the focus of reactions with the words he used in a statement at Gazi University, as if he had not said those things himself.

While this 'U-turn' that took place in a short time was evaluated as an effort by Erdoğan to test the pulse and change the agenda, such contradictory statements made on such an important issue were criticized in very harsh language.

"Look, did you see that! Apparently, there was a typo in Article 3 of the Constitution, and it needed to be changed. Article 3 says: 'The Turkish state is an indivisible entity with its territory and nation.' Mr. Numan! Which part of this bothered you? There is no typo, there is an instruction from the Palace. The first 4 articles cannot be changed."

Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ said the following:

"It is understood that they will divide it by getting us used to it. Numan Kurtulmuş is playing with words. Whereas the correct version is 'The Turkish state is an indivisible entity with its territory and nation.'

The state consists of high authority, the nation, and the territory. This is how it is explained in all state law books. That is why those who wrote it wrote it correctly. Of course, the goal is to propose innocent changes in the first 3 articles and then completely destroy their content. If this state collapses, we will all remain under it. But those who govern and destroy it will remain the most."

The political tradition from which these people emerge has no definition of state, nation, or homeland.

They are hostile to all the values and institutions of the Republic of Turkey, which they are enemies of and have been unable to make peace with despite governing it for years.

With the debates they want to start over the Constitution, they will both create room for themselves to maneuver and give audacity and courage to the enemies of the state and nation, and feed on this politically.

The role assumed by the Parliament Speaker regarding the new Constitution debates has led to him losing his impartiality. The Parliament Speaker addressing the questions of "does the state have a nation or does the nation have a state" as if there were no other problems in the country is not in line with the office he holds.

As Atatürk stated, “Turkey belongs to the Turks,” and any effort to define it beyond this is an empty debate. The intention of the Parliament Speaker to extend an olive branch to the ethnic identity impositions of HÜDA PAR, which is on one side of the government, and the DEM, which it is trying to take to its other side, has been revealed, and he should do this not with the title of Parliament Speaker, but with his partisan title.

It is clear that the agenda of creating a new concept of nation is not a demand of the Turkish nation. Then who is this demand coming from? It is not a coincidence that those who removed the “T.C.” (Republic of Turkey) abbreviation from public institutions and organizations in the past want to remove “Turkishness” from the Constitution; on the contrary, it is a very planned and organized policy. This policy is also the basis of most of the problems Turkey is experiencing today.

Indeed; the fact that the TRT General Manager stated in front of cameras that broadcasts that would “disturb” Iran would be made via a Persian-language channel revealed that the AKP government has fallen into a dangerous game in foreign policy. Turkey and Iran have determined their borders since the Treaty of Zuhab and are two critical countries for the peace and stability of the region.

The disintegration or destabilization of Iran harms Turkey. Even knowing this fact, Turkey being trapped through Iran cannot be explained by negligence. Those who first tried to get the political extension of Hezbollah to open Article 4 of the Constitution to debate and then fell silent upon the reactions are now targeting Article 3 of the Constitution through the Parliament Speaker.

There is no apology, explanation, or justification for a mindset that is bothered by the expression “The Turkish State, with its territory and nation, is an indivisible entity.” This is clearly being against the Turkish nation. Since Turkey is not a country that can be collapsed from the outside, it is desired to be collapsed from the inside. The “nation” debate circulated with the new Constitution discussions is also a manifestation of this. It is not a rational policy for Political Islamists to ignore the “Turkish Identity” by prioritizing the concept of the Ummah despite the heavy prices our country has paid.

There is no acceptable side to imposing a new concept of nation on this country and this nation, which returned from the brink of being partitioned with the Treaty of Sèvres in World War I. What is the difference between a political mindset that does not respect Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, who saved the Turkish nation from the Great British Game, and tries to destroy Him and his values, and the British sympathizers? The political power has damaged the Republic and its gains with the two-steps-forward-one-step-back policies it has followed to date, and is now attempting to present the final act to our nation under the guise of “we are getting rid of the coup Constitution” through the “New Constitution.”

The Turkish nation will not fall for this game. Since the Oghuz tribes, the Sakas-Scythians, the Seljuks, and the Ottomans, the Turkish identity has been the most important identity of this region. Subjecting the Turkish identity to sectarian discrimination is not a unifying but a divisive approach. It is in the archives and memories that those who practiced this in the past were part of the British Game.

The Turkish nation has the power and capacity to break the British Game played upon it. Let no one attempt to change the Constitution or create a new concept of nation by catching a momentary majority in Parliament without presenting it to the appreciation of our nation. There is no other way out than an early election.

Considering the captivity of the current opposition parties, it is now inevitable for a new political movement consisting of honest, honorable people who do not compromise on the Turkish identity and whose will cannot be mortgaged to take part in the elections. There is no word superior to the word of the Turkish nation! This homeland is ours, we will protect it!
