People's Alliance partner Destici exposes AKP's İmralı plans: 'That demand reached our ears'
Great Unity Party (BBP) Chairman Mustafa Destici, regarding the DEM Party delegation's meetings with political parties, said, "The decisions we make from Ankara may sometimes not be inclusive and may not reflect the views of the citizens. Therefore, we must do what our people want."
Attending a program held at the Grand Mosque in the Sivrihisar district of Eskişehir for the Regaip Kandili, Destici celebrated the holy night for the Turkish and Islamic world in his statement to journalists.
Destici stated that since the day their party was founded, they have adopted the principle that the fight against terrorism must be carried out against all its elements, and that there will be no negotiations with terrorism or terrorists; on the contrary, terrorism will be eradicated through struggle.
Stating that their party remains at the same point today, Destici said regarding the DEM Party's visit to İmralı, "When this process began, it was said that 'there will be no bargaining or negotiations, and a delegation will go to İmralı. A call will be made directly from there to the PKK to 'lay down your arms,' and this call will be realized.' Now, they have gone and come back. We see that a 7-point statement has been made by the DEM Party, and what the terrorist leader, the murderer of İmralı, wants has not even been disclosed yet."

"WE WILL CUT OUR OWN UMBILICAL CORD"
Destici stated that a demand for a "guarantor country," which the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation would not accept, had reached their ears, and spoke as follows:
"Now, what does a guarantor country mean? It means taking this issue to the international arena. It means giving this issue an international dimension. This is something that neither we nor the Turkish nation can ever accept. My blood ran cold when I heard this. I hope there is no such thing, and therefore, such a thing can never be accepted. We will cut our own umbilical cord. The Republic of Turkey and the Turkish nation have words to say to everyone, and they have the power to solve every issue, especially terrorism."
Expressing that the terrorist structure in northern Syria is the closest and most serious threat to Turkey, Destici stated that the meetings to be held with the DEM Party delegation should not delay operations against the terrorist organization.
Pointing out that terrorists must be removed from Syria and Iraq just as they are from Turkey, Destici noted the following:
"We understand from today's meeting that the message or demands of the murderer of İmralı will be conveyed to his interlocutors or other political parties. However, it is not enough for only the People's Alliance parties to approach this positively; it is said that all political parties are expected to say 'yes' to this in a consensus. That is not enough; it seems all non-governmental organizations and unions are also required to say 'yes' to this. After that, of course, some changes in the Constitution are being discussed, but these have not yet been clearly explained.
These are things that have reached our ears. We know that, although these steps may have been taken with good intentions, our interlocutors do not make their own decisions, and therefore they are puppets, founded by imperialist global powers, primarily the USA, and have survived for 40 years with their support. If America were to pull back today, they would not last even 3 days against the Republic of Turkey and the heroic Turkish army. Therefore, we believe they will not lay down their arms until the ones who give the orders or founded them say 'yes'."

Expressing that they share the same thoughts as the families of martyrs and veterans regarding negotiations, Destici continued:
"There are families, village guards, village guard families, and local people who have fought in this struggle in that region for years and have suffered many losses. There are people who have stood by their state, their country, and their nation. What do they think? Their will is very important. The decisions we make from Ankara may sometimes not be inclusive and may not reflect the views of the citizens. Therefore, we must do what our people want. What I see is that our people want a fight against terrorism. They do not want negotiations. Just as the state broke the back of terrorism within Turkey—and moreover, the People's Alliance and the AK Party government did this. It was done under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. That is why we say, 'Struggle, not negotiation'."
Destici emphasized that before the DEM Party delegation comes to meet with them, they must say, "The PKK is a terrorist organization. It must immediately lay down its arms and surrender to the state," and added, "Let the delegation conducting these meetings make this statement. Let them say, 'The PKK is an armed terrorist organization and must lay down its arms and surrender to the state.' We will talk after that. We respect everyone's opinion. Everyone can express their opinion. Our red line is terrorism and violence. We do not talk, meet, or negotiate with those who have weapons in their hands and have not yet laid them down."
