Polls have closed, first statement from Ahmet Yener! When will the broadcast ban be lifted?

Voting for the March 31 Local Elections in Turkey has ended. All ballot boxes across the country have closed, and the vote counting process has begun.

Making a statement after the polls closed, YSK Chairman Ahmet Yener announced that the council would meet shortly to evaluate the issue regarding the broadcast ban.

Yener's statements are as follows;

"The voting process for 61 million 441 thousand 882 voters at 207,848 ballot boxes, where 34 political parties competed nationwide, has been completed without any issues, except for some isolated incidents.

We wish a speedy recovery to those injured as a result of these incidents, and I pray for God's mercy upon our citizens who lost their lives and extend my condolences to their families.

The result information from the ballot boxes where counting and tallying processes have been completed has begun to be entered into SEÇSİS, and the data flow is ongoing.

The Supreme Election Council is sharing all data entries with our political parties; at the same time, our political parties and their representatives will continue to monitor the election results in real-time on the screen prepared within the institution.

I wish the local government general elections held on March 31, 2024, to be beneficial to our country, our nation, and our political parties.

Regarding the broadcast ban you are eagerly awaiting, voting has ended and counting and tallying processes have begun; the council will meet shortly to evaluate this issue. I wish you all good work."
