Reaction from Kocabıyık, expelled from AKP, to Akın Gürlek: 'He is not telling the truth in his statements'

Former İzmir MP Hüseyin Kocabıyık, who was expelled from the AKP for reacting to operations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) and supporting Ekrem İmamoğlu, made a noteworthy post on his social media account.

Following the statements made by Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek on a television channel, Kocabıyık made a post in which he stated that the expressions used by Gürlek did not reflect the truth.

Making statements regarding the legal process conducted against him, Hüseyin Kocabıyık lashed out at Gürlek with the words, "We will definitely have an appointment with this Akın Gürlek one day, and he will get to know me very well."

Here are those statements by Hüseyin Kocabıyık:

"Akın Gürlek is not telling the truth in his statements. Let me explain the part that fell to me in his practices: he raids my house at the crack of dawn with two carloads of police.

He seizes my phone. The prosecutor takes me before the Criminal Court of Peace judge without taking a statement. The female Criminal Court of Peace judge doesn't even listen to me. She arrests me. Then she keeps me in prison for 72 days.

None of the insult allegations are true. They know, just like everyone else, that I did not insult the President. They give the maximum sentence. I won't even mention that the judge received a phone call in the middle of the hearing.

As if this sentence were not enough, they imposed a travel ban. They introduced judicial control. They imposed a political ban.

They did all of this because of a newspaper interview. They did all of this to someone who served two terms in parliament. Now, imagine what they put those who are lying in Silivri through.

Therefore, we will definitely have an appointment with this Akın Gürlek one day, and he will get to know me very well. For that reason, our effective remorse laws must remain in place."
