Regulation nears completion: Attention, B-class license holders!

Following the completion of the work carried out by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Interior, and the Ministry of National Education, it is anticipated that a regulation to be made in the Highway Traffic Law will soon allow motorcycles up to 125 cc to be ridden with a Class B driver's license.

Remzi Öztürk, General Coordinator of the Motorcycle Industry Association (MOTED), stated that the regulation, which is expected to come into force, is projected to be published by the end of 2023 at the latest.

TRAINING FROM A DRIVING SCHOOL

Emphasizing that the regulation expected to be published includes a requirement for drivers with a Class B license to “receive practical steering training for motorcycles” from any driving school, Öztürk continued as follows:

“The training is not in the form of an exam. It is intended to be only in the form of steering training. The driver's license of the person who receives the training will be automatically accredited. These individuals who receive the training will be able to use motorcycles up to 125 cc without needing to change their driver's license or undergo any further procedures.”

THERE WILL BE NO AGE LIMIT

MOTED President Remzi Öztürk stated that there is no age limit in the regulation expected to come into force, adding, however, that the General Directorate of Legal Services is separately evaluating the age limit. Expressing that drivers registered with any e-commerce organization will not be able to benefit from this regulation, Öztürk said, “Work is continuing rapidly, and we expect the regulation to be published within 2023 at the latest.”
