Reyhanlı massacre perpetrator Koralı arrested

Muhammed Dib Koralı, one of the perpetrators of the 2013 bombing attacks in the Reyhanlı district of Hatay that claimed 53 lives, has been arrested after being captured in Syria. The news was announced by Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.

Reyhanlı massacre perpetrator Koralı arrested

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that Muhammed Dib Koralı, one of those responsible for the 2013 Reyhanlı massacre who was captured in Syria by the MIT (National Intelligence Organization) in recent days, has been arrested.

Koralı, who was captured in Syria during a joint operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Hatay Provincial Police Department, was arrested by the Hatay Duty Magistrate Judge's Office. 

Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced the news of Koralı's arrest via his social media account. Minister Tunç stated the following: 

"Mohammad Dib Korali, a suspect in the treacherous terrorist attack carried out in the Reyhanlı district of our Hatay province in 2013, who was captured in Syria, has been arrested by the Hatay Duty Magistrate Judge's Office within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Hatay Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

I once again remember with mercy our citizens who lost their lives in the attack that broke our hearts, and I extend my condolences to their families and loved ones."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED? 

On May 11, 2013, two separate terrorist bombing attacks were carried out in the Reyhanlı district of Hatay, resulting in the deaths of 53 people and leaving 146 others injured. The attacks, carried out with car bombs, were recorded as the second bloodiest attack in the history of the republic following the 2015 Ankara Train Station massacre. According to reports in the press at the time, all 73 MOBESE (CCTV) cameras across the district had malfunctioned a few days before the attack and failed to record.
