As debris removal efforts continue following the collapse of a 7-story building in Maltepe, Istanbul, which resulted in the deaths of 5 people, new images regarding the concrete samples taken from the structure have emerged.
After the citizens trapped under the rubble were recovered from the building, which collapsed at approximately 05:40 on the morning of October 8 in the Cevizli neighborhood, teams began working in the area. As part of these efforts, concrete samples were taken from the debris.
During the examination of the samples, it was observed that there were seashells inside the concrete fragments. The images have raised questions regarding the quality of the materials used in the construction of the building.
It was stated that debris removal work is ongoing in the area and that the concrete samples will be taken into account in the technical assessments regarding the collapse of the structure.
