Statement from IETT regarding allegations of irregularity

A statement has been issued by IETT regarding claims made by Cihan Demirel, a motor mechanic living in Sancaktepe, who alleged that the license and engine numbers of buses in the IETT fleet do not match. The statement noted that the person mentioned in the news reports is not an IETT employee. It was stated, "His employment contract was terminated on 04.12.2024. Due to the individual's baseless allegations on social media, a criminal complaint was filed with the prosecutor's office by the relevant company on 26.12.2024."
The statement included the following points:
-IETT provides service in Istanbul with a total of 6,786 vehicles, including its own fleet and the private transport fleet under its supervision, and all vehicles undergo TÜVTÜRK inspections, which are the national technical inspection standard, and provide service after receiving a certificate of competence.
-As the country's largest public transport institution, IETT carries out 64 thousand trips on 832 different lines in a single day, covering a distance of 1 million 400 thousand km and performing approximately 5 million journeys.
-All operations and transactions of our administration, which is a public institution, are completely open, transparent, and subject to continuous audit by the relevant authorities.
-It is announced with importance for the purpose of informing the public correctly.
