Statement from Naci Görür following the Adana earthquake

Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür evaluated the earthquake that occurred in the Saimbeyli district of Adana. In a post on his social media account, Görür noted that the tremor occurred on the Savrun Fault Zone and drew attention to the fact that the earthquake was shallow.

In his post, Görür stated, "A 4.8 magnitude earthquake occurred 5 hours ago in Topallar-Saimbeyli-Adana on the left-lateral, strike-slip Savrun Fault Zone. The energy likely increased with the 2023 earthquake. I do not think it will progress toward Adana. It is a shallow earthquake."

According to AFAD data, the earthquake was recorded at 04:02 with a magnitude of 5, with its epicenter in the Saimbeyli district of Adana. It was reported that the tremor occurred at a depth of 7 kilometers.

The earthquake was also felt in surrounding provinces such as Kahramanmaraş, Osmaniye, Kayseri, and Gaziantep. The Kandilli Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 4.8. According to official statements, there was no loss of life or property due to the earthquake.
