Statement from Naci Görür on the Malatya earthquake: 'A significant amount of energy has been transferred to these areas'
Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made a statement regarding the 5.2 magnitude earthquake in Malatya. Görür said, "It likely occurred on a fault segment that was not broken as a result of the February 6 earthquakes. A significant amount of energy has been transferred to these areas."
According to data from the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), a 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Battalgazi district of Malatya.
The Kandilli Observatory announced the magnitude of the earthquake as 5.3.
The earthquake was also felt in surrounding provinces.
Geoscientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür made notable remarks following the earthquake.
Görür stated the following:
"Friends, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred in Salkonak-Yeşilyurt/Malatya. The earthquake is in the East Anatolian Fault (DAF) Zone. It is likely on a fault segment that was not broken as a result of the February 6 earthquakes. As you know, a significant amount of energy has been transferred to these areas.
