Suspect who stabbed YENİ Party deputy referred to courthouse! 'He provoked me a lot'
Seydi Ahmet Keleş, who stabbed YENİ Party Gaziantep Deputy Melih Meriç, and 4 other individuals alleged to be involved in the incident have been sent to the courthouse.
Seydi Ahmet Keleş, who is accused of stabbing YENİ Party Gaziantep Deputy Melih Meriç, along with 4 other suspects alleged to have been involved in the incident, have been referred to the courthouse following their processing at the police station.
Security measures were taken in the surrounding area as Keleş, the former CHP Oğuzeli district head who fled after the incident and later turned himself in, was taken to the courthouse following medical examinations.
Responding to questions from members of the press, Keleş stated that he regretted the incident. Keleş said, "I am regretful, I did not do it on purpose. I am very regretful, the deputy is my friend. He provoked me a lot. I am very regretful, I did not do it on purpose. I am very happy that he is alive."
It was reported that in his statement at the police station, the suspect said the incident stemmed from a feud that began between them after the YENİ Party Oğuzeli district presidency was given to another person.
