Tea purchase prices debated in Rize: 'Coffin' protest held

In the Fındıklı district of Rize, the local chamber of agriculture, chamber of tradesmen, and producers held a march to express their reaction to the 2024 fresh tea purchase price, which was announced at 19 liras.
During the demonstration, a coffin filled with fresh tea was carried on shoulders.
Led by the Fındıklı Chamber of Agriculture, the 2024 fresh tea purchase price, which the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced as 19 liras on May 11, was protested in the Fındıklı district of Rize with a 'Great Tea March'.
THOUSANDS PARTICIPATED IN THE MARCH
The march was attended by the chamber of tradesmen, members of various non-governmental organizations, and tea producers.
The crowd, chanting slogans such as "End the exploitation in tea" and "Keep picking and picking, but tea should also be worth money," carried the coffin containing fresh tea on their shoulders.
