The knot is untying in the Narin Güran murder case: What is the latest status before the December 26 hearing?
A critical period has been reached in the trial regarding the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır. A verdict for the suspects is expected to be announced at the hearing scheduled for December 26.
A critical threshold is being crossed in the case regarding the brutal murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır. A verdict is expected to be announced on December 26 in the trial where the detained defendants, mother Yüksel Güran, uncle Salim Güran, brother Enes Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar, are being tried on charges of "intentional killing of a child in complicity," facing potential aggravated life imprisonment.
HOW WAS THE MURDER DISCOVERED?
Narin Güran, who left her home on August 21 to attend a Quran course and was never heard from again, was found dead on the 18th day of search efforts in the Eğertutmaz Stream, two kilometers away from the Tavşantepe neighborhood. The autopsy determined that the child died of suffocation caused by the covering of her mouth and nose and the application of pressure to her neck.

INVESTIGATION AND TRIAL PROCESS
As part of the investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, a total of 12 suspects were arrested, including mother Yüksel Güran, brother Enes Güran, uncle Salim Güran, and neighbor Nevzat Bahtiyar. While aggravated life imprisonment was requested for 4 defendants for the crime of intentional killing of a child, a separate indictment was prepared for the other 8 suspects.
The first hearing of the case began on November 7 at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court and was adjourned to December 26 for the collection of evidence and the presentation of the prosecutor's opinion.

PROSECUTOR'S OPINION: NO DISCRETIONARY REDUCTION SHOULD BE APPLIED
In the 14-page opinion prepared by the prosecution, it was requested that the detained defendants be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional killing of a child in complicity." The opinion included the statement, "No discretionary reduction should be applied to the sentence to be imposed."
The opinion recommended that mother Yüksel Güran and brother Enes Güran be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in accordance with Articles 82/1-d and 82/1-e of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK), and that uncle Salim Güran and Nevzat Bahtiyar be sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment in accordance with Article 82/1-e of the TCK.

TRIAL ON DECEMBER 26
The court is expected to announce its verdict at the end of the three-day hearing. As the search for justice continues, a fair and impartial judicial process is being closely followed by the public.
