Following the terrorist organization PKK's announcement regarding laying down arms and disbanding, the first details regarding how the new resolution process will proceed have begun to emerge.

According to a report by Cumhuriyet, the terrorist organization's disarmament process will be carried out in a coordinated manner by the National Intelligence Organization (MIT) and the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). It is planned for the weapons to be surrendered in the regions of Duhok, Amediye, and Köysancak, which are under KRG control.

MIT WILL REGISTER THE WEAPONS

MIT will keep the inventory and records of the weapons to be surrendered. On the other hand, identifying terrorists who have not participated in any actions against Turkey will also be under the responsibility of MIT. After this stage, the goal is for the identified individuals to be taken into custody by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and MIT teams and brought to Turkey. There are no plans to establish a special "surrender center" within Turkey's borders. The reason cited for this decision is the low number of remaining organization members in the country and the fact that these individuals are scattered.

CAMP INFRASTRUCTURE WILL BE DECOMMISSIONED

It is planned that the camps, which the organization has used for many years for shelter, training, and ammunition storage, will be decommissioned once the weapons are laid down. At this point, MIT will also undertake the task of monitoring organization members who refuse to surrender and are not in a position to return to Turkey.

TRANSITION PERIOD WILL LAST 5 YEARS

A five-year "transition period" is envisioned after the disarmament and surrender process is completed. It is reported that during this period, TSK units will continue to remain in their current positions in northern Iraq. It is emphasized that this military presence will be maintained as long as no new structuring against Turkey is detected.
