The reason for opening Cem Garipoğlu's grave has been revealed! The Karabulut family's lawyer explains
The case of Münevver Karabulut, who was murdered by Cem Garipoğlu in Istanbul 15 years ago, is back on the agenda. While public claims persisted that Cem Garipoğlu was not actually dead, a recent decision has been made to exhume his grave.
High school student Münevver Karabulut was murdered on March 3, 2009, by Cem Garipoğlu, the son of businessman Hayyam Garipoğlu. Karabulut's body was found dismembered in a trash container by a waste collector.
After the incident, Cem Garipoğlu remained on the run for 197 days before turning himself in.
Garipoğlu, who was sent to prison, committed suicide in 2014. However, doubts regarding whether Garipoğlu had truly died persisted in the public eye for a long time.

THE INITIAL APPLICATION HAD BEEN REJECTED
The Karabulut family, who believed that Garipoğlu had escaped or been helped to escape, filed a criminal complaint to have Garipoğlu's grave opened.
The initial application was rejected by the prosecutor's office, which concluded that there were 'no grounds for prosecution.'

GARİPOĞLU'S GRAVE WILL BE OPENED
The Karabulut family, who wanted to have the grave of their daughter's murderer opened, did not give up, and the application regarding the opening of Garipoğlu's grave was accepted the other day.

SO WHY AFTER 10 YEARS?
The reasons necessary for opening the grave after 10 years have also become a subject of curiosity for everyone.
Rezan Epözdemir, the lawyer for the Karabulut family, explained the reasons cited by the prosecutor's office for opening Garipoğlu's grave.

THE REASON: THE GARİPOĞLU FAMILY'S 'SOFA' POSTS
The most significant reason was that after the suicide, the Garipoğlu family posed on the sofa where Münevver Karabulut was murdered and where her blood had stained the fabric.
Epözdemir stated that the family's sharing of photos taken while sitting on the sofa where Münevver Karabulut was slaughtered and where bloodstains were present was also influential in the decision for exhumation.

THE FAMILY'S USE OF THE SOFA DREW BACKLASH
The family, who continued to use the sofas that were in the living room at the time Cem Garipoğlu committed the murder of Münevver Karabulut and posed on them, had been criticized for a long time.

BLOODSTAINS WERE NUMBERED
During the investigation conducted by the police on the day of the incident, it was observed that the bloodstains detected on the sofa were numbered with figures such as 42, 43, and 44.
