Three key points emerge in AKP's fund crisis: Why is the list not being disclosed?

Within the scope of efforts regarding the fund crisis in AKP corridors, the disclosure of names that caused grievances, accelerating the investigations of the State Supervisory Council (DDK), and amending the Capital Markets Law have come to the agenda. It has been suggested that a three-month period is envisioned for the DDK and that a 20-person team is working to prepare a report.

Three key points emerge in AKP's fund crisis: Why is the list not being disclosed?

Nefes columnist Nuray Babacan wrote about the AKP's efforts regarding the fund crisis and what is being discussed in party corridors. According to Babacan, there are three main issues being focused on within the party regarding the fund crisis.

These are listed as the disclosure of the list of fund scammers, the acceleration of the DDK's work, and the amendment of the Capital Markets Law (SPK).

A 20-PERSON TEAM IS WORKING ON THE DDK REPORT

While it is stated that the time given to the State Supervisory Council is three months, it was expressed that a 20-person team is continuing its work to prepare a report.

Amending the problematic provisions in the Capital Markets Law has also been among the topics on the agenda. In particular, the regulation in Article 79 of the law regarding the compensation of grievances is being debated.

Assessments are being conveyed that the failure to draw a clear framework for these institutions in the regulations prepared before intermediary institutions and funds were established paved the way for current problems. In addition, the question of why precautions were not taken earlier in the face of the developments is also coming to the fore.

In line with the criticisms previously voiced by the opposition, views that the law does not adapt to changing economic conditions and that there are interest groups taking advantage of loopholes in the regulation are also being discussed.

WHY IS THE LIST OF FUND SCAMMERS NOT BEING DISCLOSED?

Another issue discussed in AKP corridors is why the list of people mentioned in the fund crisis is not being shared with the public. According to Babacan, lawyer deputies are expressing different views on this matter.

One of the assessments on the subject is as follows:

"Not disclosing the list of scammers creates the feeling that someone is being protected. However, these lists will emerge in any case. Namely; those who deposit their ill-gotten gains will be exempt from investigation, and a criminal complaint will be filed against those who do not, and legal proceedings will be initiated.

In this case, the names of both those who deposit the money and those against whom a criminal complaint is filed will be revealed. Given this, why are we refraining from disclosing these lists? This attitude creates wrong impressions..."

LOSSES IN THE STOCK MARKET ARE BEING CONVEYED TO DEPUTIES

The losses experienced in the stock market following the fund crisis are also coming to the agenda of AKP deputies. It is stated that citizens are conveying their complaints to the deputies and that reactions regarding the losses are increasing.

In Babacan's article, the following statements were included regarding the losses experienced by investors trading on the stock market:

It is explained that those who say, “As people trading on the stock market, we have had serious losses due to the effects of the fund scam. We experienced 50 percent losses,” are complaining.
