Tragic news regarding Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, son of Italian chef stabbed in Istanbul

Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, the son of Italian chef Andrea Minguzzi, went to a flea market to shop on Friday, January 24, following an argument he had with a group of cyclists in Kadıköy, Istanbul.

However, he was subjected to a knife attack there by B.B., who was alleged to be from the group he had previously argued with. Minguzzi, who received five stab wounds to his body, collapsed to the ground covered in blood, while U.B., who was present during the attack, kicked the wounded Minguzzi.

Upon notification by citizens at the scene, police and medical teams were quickly dispatched to the area. Seriously injured, Minguzzi was taken to the hospital and placed in intensive care. According to a report by Sabah newspaper, Mattia Ahmet Minguzzi, who could not be saved despite all the interventions of the doctors, has passed away.

SUSPECTS APPREHENDED

Following the murder, teams from the Istanbul Public Security Branch Office Murder Bureau and the Kadıköy Public Security Bureau launched a rapid investigation into the incident. As a result of the work carried out, B.B., who carried out the attack, and U.B., who accompanied him, were quickly caught and taken into custody. It was determined in police records that B.B. had one and U.B. had two separate criminal records. After being handed over to the Juvenile Branch Office, the two suspects were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to prison.

Italian chef Andrea Minguzzi, who holds an important place in the Istanbul gastronomy world, was married to Turkish musician Yasemin Akıncılar and lived in Beyoğlu. Participating in many prestigious gastronomy events in Turkey, Minguzzi was particularly known for his mastery of Italian cuisine.

Minguzzi had presented special dishes such as fresh guitar spaghetti, beef carpaccio, red shrimp with stracciatella cheese, and sea bass in a salt crust at the "Shang Brunch Vol.3" event held at the Shangri-La Bosphorus Istanbul. At the same time, he showcased his talents as the head chef of the French Consulate at the "Good Fellas" event held in 2014. Known as the Executive Chef of Eataly in Istanbul, Minguzzi was an important figure in the sector with his contributions to culinary arts.
