Travel ban imposed on İbrahim Keloğlan, who killed Eros the cat
The initial court ruling regarding Eros, the cat killed by İbrahim Keloğlan on the first day of the year in Istanbul, had sparked reactions. In their closing statement, the public prosecutor requested that the defendant be punished and arrested upon sentencing. Following this request, the judge sentenced Keloğlan to 2 years and 6 months in prison. Keloğlan was not arrested, but a travel ban was imposed on him.

The retrial of İbrahim Keloğlan, who cornered and kicked a cat named Eros to death in an elevator on New Year's Eve in Başakşehir, began today after the higher court overturned his previous 1-year-and-3-month prison sentence.
Animal rights activists flocked to the courthouse for the hearing.
In addition to the lawyers for the parties involved, AK Party Istanbul MP Müşerref Pervin Tuba also attended the hearing held at the Küçükçekmece 16th Criminal Court of First Instance.
While the requests of bar associations and organizations to join the case were rejected, Keloğlan claimed in his defense that he was being slandered and that he feeds cats.
Keloğlan stated, "I lost control of myself. My wife and I have reached a point where we cannot face the public."
HEARING MOVED TO A LARGER HALL
In their closing statement, the public prosecutor requested that the defendant be punished and arrested upon sentencing.
Despite the extensive security measures taken by police teams, the hearing was moved to a larger hall after the courtroom door was pounded on.

WHAT IS THE EROS THE CAT INCIDENT?
On January 1, 2024, in the early hours of the morning, İbrahim K. entered the apartment elevator, saw Eros there, and began kicking him. The attacker followed the cat as it tried to escape the elevator, caught it, and tortured it to death.
The moments when the attacker tortured Eros to death were captured on the building's security camera.
A lawsuit was filed against the defendant, who was released under judicial control after being detained; however, İbrahim K. was released with a good conduct reduction at the first hearing of the case held on February 8.
The public case regarding the cat named Eros, who was brutally killed in Istanbul, was heard again today.
