Animal rights activists flocked to the courthouse for the hearing.

In addition to the lawyers for the parties involved, AK Party Istanbul MP Müşerref Pervin Tuba also attended the hearing held at the Küçükçekmece 16th Criminal Court of First Instance.

While the requests of bar associations and organizations to join the case were rejected, Keloğlan claimed in his defense that he was being slandered and that he feeds cats.

Keloğlan stated, "I lost control of myself. My wife and I have reached a point where we cannot face the public."

Despite the extensive security measures taken by police teams, the hearing was moved to a larger hall after the courtroom door was pounded on.
