Turkish-owned ship struck in the Black Sea: 10 crew members lost their lives

A new incident has been added to the attacks on commercial vessels in the Black Sea. It has been reported that a Togo-flagged, Turkish-owned cargo ship, which was said to be heading to Romania, was struck by an unmanned aerial vehicle and sank off the coast of Bulgaria.

According to a statement by Bulgarian President Rumen Radev, all 10 crew members on board lost their lives. Despite days having passed since the incident, no detailed official statement has been made by Ankara regarding the ship or those who lost their lives.

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed security risks in the Black Sea following his meeting with his Hungarian counterpart Anita Orban in Ankara, but did not provide a specific assessment regarding the attack on the ship in question.

Stating that the war shows a tendency to spread to the Black Sea, Fidan said, "The increasing attacks on civilian ships pose a serious threat to life, property, navigation, and environmental safety in our region. As regional countries and as the international community, we must never allow the Black Sea to turn into a new front of conflict."

The recent increase in attacks on commercial vessels in the region has raised new concerns regarding navigational safety and civilian maritime transport in the Black Sea.
