Uğur Dündar responds to Kılıçdaroğlu's letter: 'The chairman in loafers who lost the election'

As the accounting of the May 14-28 elections continues, journalist Uğur Dündar had claimed in a live broadcast on Sözcü TV that former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu was solely responsible for the defeat, using critical language. Kılıçdaroğlu responded to Dündar via a letter. Following these mutual exchanges, a response to the letter has now come from Uğur Dündar.

Uğur Dündar responds to Kılıçdaroğlu's letter: 'The chairman in loafers who lost the election'

Dündar did not delay in responding to former CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who published a letter containing harsh messages directed at journalist Uğur Dündar. In the message he published, Dündar stated regarding Kılıçdaroğlu, 'Your ambition is making you lie.'

The CHP under the leadership of Özgür Özel, which emerged from the March 31 elections with a major victory, has sparked new debates. In response to Dündar, who declared Kılıçdaroğlu responsible for the defeats, Kılıçdaroğlu made insinuations that Dündar's journalistic background was full of dubious incidents and stated that what was said did not reflect the truth.

Dündar did not leave the response given to him via the letter unanswered and used the following expressions on his social media account:

'Dear Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu,

You have written an open letter to me.

However, beyond the rude tone you used, upon reading the content of your letter, which is full of slander and lies,

I could not help but think, 'Could Mr. Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu's X account have been hacked by someone with malicious intent?'

Because I did not insult you, I did not slander you, I did not attack your personal rights, and I did not speak about your private life.'

I stated that the local election results simply showed that instead of imposing your own candidacy during the presidential election process,

if you had nominated either Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu or Mr. Mansur Yavaş, they could have easily won the election.

I am not the only one saying this; almost everyone on the street is expressing it.

Furthermore, the fact that some of your table partners, to whom you gifted 39 parliamentary seats, could not even reach a 1 percent vote share in the last elections confirms this view.

What is there to get angry and worked up about?

Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu, I understand your irritability.

Because, despite the fact that you lost all the elections you entered against Mr. Tayyip Erdoğan and kept the CHP's vote share stuck at 25 percent, Mr. Özgür Özel shattered this 25 percent glass ceiling in the first election he participated in as Chairman, making his party the winner with 38 percent of the vote.

In other words, the change that began with your departure has achieved victory.

Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu,

With the lines full of spite and anger that you have written, you have DISPROVEN THE LABEL that has been trying to be pinned on me since the day you were elected chairman: 'Uğur Dündar polished Kılıçdaroğlu. He paved the way for him by holding open debates with Dengir Mir Mehmet Fırat and Melih Gökçek!'

You have saved me from being under suspicion for no reason.

Mr. Kemal,

Not only did I harbor no ill thoughts or behavior toward you, but even during your blunder of nominating Mr. Ekmelettin İhsanoğlu as a presidential candidate, I supported you against the AKP.

However, I also criticized your efforts to distance the CHP from its founding philosophy and the path drawn by Atatürk, and to shift it to the right.

Mr. Kemal,

You have also failed to see that you are contradicting yourself without realizing it in the lines you penned with ambition and spite.

After all, wouldn't those who read your letter think the following?

"Hey Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, if Uğur Dündar was such a bad journalist, why did you always choose him for interviews during the most critical times?"

Your ambition has also MADE YOU LIE.

You said... TRT General Manager!

Neither during the September 12 period, nor before or after it, did it ever cross my mind to become the TRT General Manager.

Because I had a job that I performed with great success and that made me 'the most trusted person in Turkey' for years.

Your lies were not limited to this either.

You have also used my dear friend Tarık Akan as a tool to vent your ambition and spite.

My friendship with the late Tarık began with a fight in our youth. But later, we became two very good friends. The closest witnesses to this are Tarık's close friends and dear Müjdat Gezen. Furthermore, after his passing, I worked very hard to have Tarık's name given to the Freedom Park in Bakırköy, where he lived, so it would become the TARIK AKAN FREEDOM PARK. I wish you, as the CHP Chairman, had lent a hand so we could have succeeded!

I also wish you could have shown the harsh stance you took against me toward the AKP government, which you have been losing to for years.

Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu,

Another point that makes me think your X account might have been taken over by malicious individuals is your use of 'informant' language regarding my reports on February 28.

Kemal Bey,

Bring all the reports I have done throughout my life, and I will sign them again.

Because I am clear in my conscience, enough to draw a picture of a bed on a wall and sleep soundly in front of it.

Have I made mistakes? Among thousands of reports, there might be one or two. (Those could have been accounted for in the courts.)

Mr. Kemal,

I am very surprised.

Because what you should have done was not to attack me with lies and slanders, but to ask yourself, 'Why didn't I step aside earlier and clear the way for the CHP?'

Look, Mr. Özgür Özel, Mr. Ekrem İmamoğlu, Mr. Mansur Yavaş, and other successful mayors have achieved victory and written history.

As for you, you have become history as 'the chairman in loafers who lost the presidential election'!..

Sincerely,
