US asks Israel to delay ground operation

According to the Israeli press, the US administration has asked Israel to delay its potential ground operation into the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The Jerusalem Post reported that Washington has requested that Israel postpone the planned ground operation into Gaza until a humanitarian corridor is established for the evacuation of civilians in the region.

The report noted that it is not yet known how Israel will respond to this request from the US.

THERE ARE 2.3 MILLION PALESTINIANS IN THE CITY

The United Nations (UN) stated in an announcement yesterday morning that the Israeli army had ordered approximately 1.1 million Palestinians living in northern Gaza to leave their homes and move to the south of the region.

Many countries and international human rights organizations have warned about the consequences of the evacuation order and called on Israel to step back. Approximately 2.3 million Palestinians live in the Gaza Strip, a narrow area of about 360 square kilometers that Israel has kept under blockade since 2007.
