Israel said 'evacuate', hospital responded: 'We refuse to evacuate'

Ahmed Muhanna, director of Al-Awda Hospital located in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, said that medical teams refused to evacuate the hospital despite the Israeli army giving a deadline for bombing.

The official emphasized that he received a phone call from the Israeli army yesterday ordering the evacuation of the hospital, but that this was not possible.

''WE ARE DETERMINED TO STAY''

Muhanna said, "Some patients have been evacuated, but there are also patients who cannot be transferred due to the severity of their health conditions. We are determined to stay here with our medical staff, consisting of 35 doctors and support teams, to serve the patients."

''EVACUATION IS NOT POSSIBLE''

Stating that it is impossible to evacuate the 5 patients in intensive care in particular, Muhanna used the expressions, "Despite the small size of our hospital and the scarcity of resources, we insist on staying here and serving the patients. We refuse to evacuate."

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus had asked Israel to reverse this decision, stating that the evacuation would directly put the lives of patients as well as health workers at risk.

ISRAEL HAD GIVEN A DEADLINE

One week has passed in the Israel-Hamas war. On the 8th day of the clashes, the number of Palestinians who fled Israeli attacks and took refuge in Al-Shifa Hospital reached 35 thousand. Israel, which has been demanding the evacuation of Gaza since yesterday, announced that it would allow civilians to pass until 16:00. Israel announced that it would allow civilians to pass until 16:00 and that there would be no attacks on the routes permitted for 6 hours.
