Will Öcalan's call be via video? Minister Tunç explains
Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç announced that the DEM Party delegation has not yet submitted an application for a third meeting with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. He also stated that there are legislative obstacles regarding Öcalan addressing the public via video.
Responding to the question of whether the DEM Party delegation has applied for a third meeting with PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that no such application has been received yet. While answering questions about when and how Öcalan might make a call, Minister Tunç also addressed claims of a 'video call', saying, "There is no provision in our legislation for a convict to address the public via video."
WE WILL EVALUATE IF THERE IS A 3RD REQUEST
As the timing of a third meeting is being discussed, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç stated that the DEM Party delegation has not yet requested a third meeting with Öcalan. Speaking on TGRT Haber, Minister Tunç expressed the following:
"There is no request for a third meeting yet. We have stated that if one occurs, we can provide the necessary permissions. Mr. Bahçeli made a speech in his group meeting regarding a goal of a 'Terror-Free Turkey.' The goal is to clear our country of terrorism. Following that, the support of our President is important. Within the process, DEM Party members were allowed to meet with İmralı. They met twice. A third request is not yet on the table. If it happens, it will be evaluated."

'ADDRESSING THE PUBLIC VIA VIDEO IS NOT POSSIBLE'
Answering questions about when and how Öcalan might make a call, Tunç explained that the legislation does not allow for such a situation as follows:
"There is no provision in our legislation for a convict to address the public via video. Our legislation does not permit this. Here, of course, we must eliminate misunderstandings. Our goal is to clear our country of terrorism. We have had great losses for 40 years."
