Will Yaşar Güler request to be relieved of his duties? The silence continues

The oath-taking ceremony and the sword-drawing ritual that took place at the Military Academy graduation continue to have an impact on the agenda.

'THIS IS ANKARA'

T24 columnist Tolga Şardan drew attention to the silence of Chief of General Staff Yaşar Güler and AKP MP Hulusi Akar, raising the claim that a request to be relieved of duty might come from the cabinet.

Pointing out that the person who might request to be relieved of duty could be Yaşar Güler, Şardan stated: "The fact that there has been no statement from any of the parties involved in the process, and the silence they have maintained despite all this noise, is not a good sign. Furthermore, it is being discussed in Ankara that since the events took place, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler has canceled his appointments and has not been meeting with many people unless necessary. It is even being claimed that Güler might request to be relieved of his post, a rumor that has been circulating since the weekend. This is Ankara. It is unlike anywhere else!"

'EXTREMELY GRAVE'

CHP Group Deputy Chairman Murat Emir addressed the silence following the emergence of the Military Academy graduation ceremony on the agenda and said the following:

"We find the silence of two people here to be significant. They also graduated from Harbiye, they also took this oath, and they also wore swords. Mr. Hulusi Akar, the previous Minister of Defense, and the current Minister of Defense Yaşar Güler. When the President makes this speech, saying, 'There are Imam Hatip graduates so that the field of jihad does not remain empty,' if you are truly trying to speak of a jihad, it is extremely grave."
