Zafer Party's response to terrorist leader Öcalan... 'We will sabotage the process'

The DEM Party's Imralı delegation shared the call for the PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan to lay down arms against the organization during a press conference. Zafer Party Deputy Chairman Ali Şehirlioğlu is responding to Öcalan's 'lay down your arms, but' call at a press conference he is holding.

Stating that the meeting was organized with the spirit of the Kuvayi Milliye (National Forces) and the Misak-ı Milli (National Pact), Şehirlioğlu expressed the following:

''We call a terrorist a terrorist; 'esteemed' or 'gentleman' does not exist in our vocabulary. On October 22, 2024, with Bahçeli's invitation of the terrorist leader to parliament, Turkey began to be led into a new and dark corridor. This unprecedented call was not just a political delusion. To consider this call merely as the beginning of a second 'opening' process would be an understatement.

This call and the developments in the ensuing process are primarily aimed at granting political freedom to a terrorist who is the murderer of 55 thousand of our citizens. This twisted effort has wounded the spirits of our beloved martyrs and has been a grave and unjust attack in the eyes of our heroic veterans, the families of martyrs, and our entire nation.

Meanwhile, a second camouflage has been created for this process, which began with the goal of political freedom for the terrorist leader, by calling it a 'Turkey without terrorism.' However, when the polish and paint on the surface began to peel off, it became clear that the issue was actually targeting the national unitary state under the guise of rhetoric about constitutional equality for Kurds. My dear fellow citizens, the Great Atatürk did not seek an ethnic or sectarian bond when he founded our republic.''

EMPHASIS ON THE UNITARY STATE

''The holistic state structure, which finds its truth in the definition that 'the people of Turkey who founded the Republic of Turkey are called the Turkish nation,' finds the same meaning in Article 66 of our current constitution and has formed one of the fundamental values of our republic.

Now, we see that harsh armistice conditions are being imposed on our state as if it had entered a war and lost it. Without feeling shame before our beloved martyrs who shed their blood and gave their lives for this homeland, our heroic veterans, and even the Turkish nation, they are trying to dictate terms of surrender to us.

By saying 'a Turkey without terrorism,' our national, unitary, secular state structure and our nation-state are being openly targeted. We saw this surrenderist mentality from the very beginning. Our Chairman Ümit Özdağ, who is currently unlawfully imprisoned in Silivri Prison, and the Zafer Party cadres have stood against this process from day one.''

'WE WILL CONTINUE THE STRUGGLE UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES'

''Our stance is clear, our rhetoric is harsh and singular. We will sabotage the process. Because for the Zafer Party, resisting this process was as valuable and prioritized as defending our republic and founding the republic.

They must have thought they would silence us when they unlawfully arrested Özdağ on January 21, 2025. They might have thought, 'If we take Özdağ, we will intimidate and silence everyone.' We are continuing the struggle and will continue under all circumstances.''

The end of this road is not peace and stability. It is not a Turkey without terrorism. We are clearly warning the decision-makers. The continuation of this road leads to more terrorism, more conflict, and towards ethnic terrorism and civil war.

Remember the first 'opening' disgrace attempted ten years ago and its results. A part of the country had been surrendered to terrorists. Terrorists had descended from the mountains to the cities, settled there, and built fortifications. A ban on operations had been imposed on the gendarmerie and police. We had to sacrifice 794 sons of the homeland to take back the city centers. This number is even higher than that of the Cyprus Peace Operation.''

'SURRENDER IS TARGETED'

''Those who plan the process are proceeding as if they have learned a lesson from the first opening. This time, a more dangerous and humiliating path for our nation is being followed. Surrender is targeted through political freedom and a new constitution. We ask those who are orchestrating the 'opening' process: What is going on, gentlemen? Did Turkey lose a field battle and we are unaware of it? Was Kurdistan established and we are unaware of it? Do you think our beloved nation does not see that you are trying to destroy our state and divide our nation along ethnic lines with a harsh armistice equivalent to the Treaty of Sèvres?

No, sir, apparently the PKK should be disbanded, should lay down its arms, and bury them. In fact, the Turkish public knows very well that a large part of the PKK has been transferred into the YPG in Syria and is being reinforced there with training and equipment support.

The color, structure, and form of the PKK may change, but the fact that it is an enemy of the Republic of Turkey and an imperialist apparatus never changes.''
