August rates for mandatory traffic insurance announced: Ceiling premium exceeds 166 thousand TL

As the maximum premiums to be applied in mandatory traffic insurance for August 2026 have been announced, the ceiling premium for high-risk drivers in Istanbul has risen to 57,213 TL, and up to 166,214 TL for taxis. The tariff varies according to vehicle type, province, and no-claims bonus step.

August rates for mandatory traffic insurance announced: Ceiling premium exceeds 166 thousand TL

The maximum premiums to be applied in mandatory traffic insurance for the August 2026 period have been announced. The tariff published by the Insurance Information and Monitoring Center includes ceiling premium amounts for different vehicle groups such as automobiles, taxis, minibuses, trucks, and buses.

According to the tariff, the maximum premium for high-risk drivers at step zero for internal combustion engine automobiles in Istanbul has been set at 57,213 TL. For drivers at the eighth step, which is the highest level of the no-claims bonus, this amount is 9,535 TL.

In the same vehicle group in Istanbul, the maximum premium will be applied as 36,235 TL for the second step, 27,653 TL for the third step, and 19,071 TL for the fourth step. A ceiling premium of 18,117 TL is projected for the fifth step, 15,257 TL for the sixth step, and 11,443 TL for the seventh step.

For electric automobiles, the maximum premium for step zero in Istanbul was announced as 51,492 TL. In the same group, a maximum premium of 40,335 TL will be applied for the first step, 32,611 TL for the second step, and 8,582 TL for the eighth step.

In Ankara, the maximum premium for a high-risk driver at step zero for internal combustion engine automobiles was 55,594 TL, while the premium for a driver at the eighth step was 9,266 TL. In İzmir, these amounts were determined as 53,974 TL and 8,996 TL, respectively.

Premiums for commercial vehicles were calculated at higher levels. For automobiles used commercially in Istanbul, the maximum premium for August for legal entity vehicles at step zero and in other fuel groups was 68,655 TL. For taxis in Istanbul, the ceiling premium for step zero rose to 166,214 TL.

When comparing June, July, and August data, it is observed that the monthly increase in maximum premiums continues. For private automobiles at step zero in Istanbul in other fuel groups, the ceiling premium was recorded as 55,262 TL in June, 56,367 TL in July, and 57,213 TL in August.

The premium to be paid by drivers will vary according to the province where the vehicle is registered, the vehicle type, the no-claims bonus step, and other criteria included in the tariff.
