CBRT reserves decline for the third consecutive week: $4.6 billion loss
The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's (CBRT) total reserves fell to $183.8 billion in the week of September 11. Reserves have decreased by $4.6 billion compared to the level on August 21.
The decline in the total reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) continued for the third consecutive week. According to calculations made by Matriks Haber based on CBRT data, total reserves, which stood at $184.3 billion in the week of September 4, fell to $183.8 billion in the week ending September 11.
Thus, the total decline in reserves over the last three weeks has reached $4.6 billion. Total reserves had followed a downward trend again after rising to $188.4 billion in the week of August 21.
According to the data, reserves were at the $188.2 billion level in the week of August 28. The decline, which has continued during the first two weeks of September, has brought market assessments regarding the Central Bank's reserve outlook back to the forefront.
The CBRT's total reserves had reached a historical peak of $218.2 billion in the week of January 30, 2026. Following this level, the reserves declined, falling as low as $149.2 billion in the week of June 26, before entering a recovery trend starting in July.
As of September 11, total reserves are approximately $34.4 billion below the historical peak seen in January.
