A claim that a restaurant in Ankara charged 1000 TL for 4 portions of cacık had become a trending topic on social media. Following a complaint filed by the customer to CİMER, teams from the Ministry of Trade conducted a price tag inspection at the establishment.
As a result of the inspection, an administrative fine of 135 thousand TL was imposed on the restaurant. Following the controversy, the owner, Recep Şahin, stated that they would no longer sell the cacık for a fee and would instead offer it to customers as a complimentary item.
Speaking to Kanal D Haber, Şahin said, "From now on, the cacık is on the house." The owner, stating that he is confident in the flavor and quality of the product, added, "It is not about the money. It is about people's actions."

REASON FOR THE FINE: PRICE DISCREPANCY
It was stated that the fine imposed by the Ministry was not directly due to the price of the cacık itself, but rather due to discrepancies between the price lists at the establishment. During the inspection, it was reported that the price list at the entrance was compared with the QR-coded price list on the tables, and differences were detected in the selling prices of 34 products.
Regarding the bill, Şahin said that the customers' total bill was 9 thousand 500 TL, and this amount was reduced to 9 thousand TL. Stating, "I am definitely not angry," the owner noted that they want customers to leave satisfied, adding, "As long as they leave here happy."
According to the establishment, the product in question is not a classic watery cacık; it is a special serving prepared with strained yogurt, olive oil, and spices. However, following the backlash on social media and the inspection process, the restaurant removed the cacık from its paid menu and added it to its complimentary list.
