Food safety alarm: 14 tons of Turkish grapes turned back at the border

A shipment of table grapes sent from Turkey to Bulgaria has been denied entry into the European Union market due to pesticide residues exceeding legal limits.

During inspections conducted by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BABH), samples taken from the shipment were sent for laboratory analysis. The tests determined that the pesticide residues in the products were above the maximum levels established by regulations.

Following this finding, the 14-ton, 100-kilogram shipment of grapes was denied entry into the EU market. It was decided that the products would be returned to the exporting company.

It was reported that the shipment consisted of a total of 2,640 crates. The non-compliant products are to be sent back to Turkey.
