Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek announced that the sliding scale system will be activated to mitigate the impact of expected high price hikes in fuel.

In a statement on the social media platform X, Minister Şimşek noted that the decision aims to limit the economic repercussions of geopolitical developments. Şimşek said, "To limit the impact of geopolitical developments on the economy, we have taken an important step as public finance that prioritizes disinflation."

"WE ACTIVATED IT TO REDUCE THE IMPACT OF THE SHOCK"

Stating that a temporary measure is being applied against fluctuations in fuel prices, Şimşek made the following assessment:

"We are temporarily activating the sliding scale system to reduce the impact of the oil price shock, which we consider to be temporary, and we are covering up to 75 percent of the fuel price increases through taxes."

DISINFLATION WILL BE SUPPORTED

Emphasizing that the practice aims to support the fight against inflation, Minister Şimşek stated that fiscal discipline will be maintained.

Şimşek remarked, "We will continue to support disinflation without compromising fiscal discipline."
