Minister Şimşek relies on Governors to ensure fiscal discipline
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that they expect the support of governors in areas such as strict compliance with austerity measures, efficient management of expenditures, close monitoring of local public investments, combating the informal economy, effective use of social assistance, and raising public awareness regarding earthquake-related expenditures.
In a post on his X social media account, Şimşek stated that he was pleased to attend the Governors' Meeting organized by the Ministry of Interior, with which they work in close cooperation as a Ministry.
Thanking all governors and Ministry personnel, primarily Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, for their support and dedicated efforts in combating money laundering, the financing of terrorism, and the informal economy, Şimşek noted the following:
"The role of our governors is of great importance in achieving fiscal discipline, which is one of the fundamental priorities of our Medium-Term Program.
In this context, we expect the support of our governors in areas such as strict compliance with austerity measures, efficient management of expenditures, close monitoring of local public investments, combating the informal economy, effective use of social assistance, and raising public awareness regarding earthquake-related expenditures.
Decisive steps to be taken in this direction are of critical importance in reaching our public finance targets."
