Natural gas storage in Europe sounds alarm before winter: Gazprom warns of supply risk

The occupancy level of Europe's underground natural gas storage facilities has brought energy security debates back to the agenda ahead of the winter months. Russian energy company Gazprom announced that as of August 6, the amount of gas in storage has fallen below the lowest levels recorded on the same date in previous years.

In a written statement, the company cited data from Gas Infrastructure Europe, noting that gas injection into storage facilities in Europe is becoming increasingly difficult. Gazprom argued that the current situation could pose a risk to the reliable supply of natural gas to consumers, especially during cold weather periods.
