Shell announced that it will lay off 200 employees in its low-carbon solutions division in 2024 and that evaluations are ongoing for 130 additional positions. According to a statement made by Shell, the company will undergo a simplification and performance-oriented transformation within its low-carbon solutions unit.

As part of the simplification, 200 people in the unit in question will be laid off in 2024. While the restructuring is planned to continue until the end of 2024, there will be an evaluation process regarding 130 positions during this period. Shell's low-carbon solutions unit covers decarbonization in transport and industry, as well as emerging energy solutions such as hydrogen.

In June, Shell announced that it planned to invest between 10-15 billion dollars in the 2023-2025 period to support the development of e-mobility and electric vehicle charging, low-carbon fuels, renewable energy generation, environmental solutions, hydrogen, and carbon capture technologies.
