Statement on pricing from IBB Halk Ekmek
The price of bread in Istanbul was recently raised to 8 TL following an official announcement. After the price of a 200-gram loaf of bread was increased to 8 TL in bakeries affiliated with the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), a statement came from IBB Halk Ekmek.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) Halk Ekmek Board Chairman Özgen Nama announced that despite rising production costs, they will not increase the price of public bread and will continue to sell it for 5 TL.
In a statement on his social media account, Nama explained that they would not raise the price of public bread and would continue to sell it for 5 TL with the following words:
"Despite rising costs, we will not increase the price of bread. To stand by our people, we will continue to deliver healthy bread to our fellow Istanbulites for 5 TL."
