Vehicle inspection fees set to rise: New prices will burn pockets
If the revaluation rate reaches 27.85 percent, vehicle inspection fees, along with increases in taxes, duties, and fines, could rise in 2027. While the automobile inspection fee is expected to increase from 3,288 Turkish Liras to 4,208 Turkish Liras, an increase in the exhaust emission measurement fee to 589 Turkish Liras is also on the agenda.
As the revaluation rate, which will determine the tariffs to be applied in 2027 for taxes, fines, duties, and fees, is awaited, an increase in vehicle inspection fees has also come to the agenda.
According to expectations, if the rate is realized at approximately 28 percent, the automobile inspection fee could rise from 3,288 Turkish Liras to 4,208 Turkish Liras. In this case, there will be an increase of approximately one thousand liras in the fee.
If the same rate of increase is applied, the exhaust gas emission measurement fee will also rise from 460 Turkish Liras to 589 Turkish Liras.
It is stated that the total number of vehicles registered in traffic in Turkey is approximately 35 million. Automobiles account for approximately 18 million of these vehicles. While new vehicles are exempt from inspection for the first 3 years, they undergo periodic inspections every 2 years thereafter.
Economist Prof. Dr. Hakkı Hakan Yılmaz stated that the revaluation rate to be applied to various taxes, fines, duties, and fees at the beginning of 2027 could reach 27.85 percent. The rate is expected to be finalized on November 3.
In accordance with the Tax Procedure Law, the President has the authority to increase or decrease the revaluation rate for taxes and duties by up to 50 percent. Additionally, according to the legislation, inspection fees can be increased or decreased by up to 20 percent every 5 years.
