2026-2027 IMM scholarship applications have begun: Deadline for 20,000 TL educational support is October 23

Applications for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's (IMM) Young University Student Educational Support for the 2026-2027 academic year have begun. Applications for the support, which is available to associate, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students, opened on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

Applications will be made online via the gencuniversiteli.ibb.istanbul website and the İstanbul Senin mobile application. Students whose applications are accepted will receive 20,000 TL in educational support per person. The IMM aims to provide support to 125,000 university students in the new term.

APPLICATION CALENDAR AND CONDITIONS

The application process will end on Friday, October 23, 2026. Students are required to complete their procedures without waiting for the last day, upload their documents to the system completely, and check the accuracy of their application information.

Students wishing to benefit from the support must be citizens of the Republic of Turkey; it is required that the student, their family, or in the event of the death of a parent, their relative, resides in Istanbul. Candidates must be continuing their education within the normal duration of their studies.

• - Being enrolled in a public university or being a 100% scholarship student at a foundation/private university
• - Having a year-end grade point average of at least 53 out of 100 or at least 2 out of 4 for intermediate and final year students
• - Documenting the need for financial support
• - Being enrolled in an associate, undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program

Open education and distance learning students, those studying abroad, participants in paid exchange programs, and students who have frozen their registration are not covered by the support. Additionally, candidates over the age of 30 for associate and undergraduate programs, and over the age of 40 for graduate and doctoral programs, cannot apply.

Students studying at foundation or private universities with a scholarship rate lower than 100% cannot apply for the IMM scholarship. Students who meet the residency requirement in Istanbul will be able to apply even if they study at universities in other cities.

During the application, a student certificate, a transcript for intermediate and final year students, and a 100% scholarship certificate for foundation or private university students are required. Documents showing income status must also be uploaded to the system for family members or spouses when necessary.

If applicable, a disability report, student certificates of siblings continuing their education, or a veteran or martyr relative certificate can also be added to the application file. Students who received support last year must also re-apply for the new term and update their documents.

In case of incomplete or incorrect documents, the student will be notified via SMS and e-mail. The payment schedule for students whose applications are accepted will be announced by the IMM Social Services Department via SMS.
