In an inspection conducted by Coast Guard teams in the Marmaris district of Muğla, violations of environmental regulations were identified regarding a luxury gulet located in the bays of Turgut Neighborhood. The investigation stated that there were deficiencies in the vessel's wastewater management and bilge water discharge records.

As a result of the inspection, an administrative fine of 209 thousand 642 lira was imposed on the boat. It was reported that the teams also examined the Blue Card and tracking records, which show that waste is disposed of in accordance with the rules, and that a report was drawn up against those responsible due to the deficiencies.

DEFICIENCIES IDENTIFIED IN RECORDS

During the inspection by teams affiliated with the Coast Guard South Aegean Group Command, it was alleged that the boat had been discharging its bilge and wastewater into the sea for approximately two months. Environmental regulations require boats to deliver their waste to authorized points and for these transactions to be recorded.

According to the report by Marmaris Manşet, it was stated that the owner of the commercial boat subject to the fine is involved in associations known for environmental activities in the region. It was noted that this situation has sparked debate in the local public opinion regarding environmental sensitivity and responsibilities in practice.

The report also alleged that the same person has been campaigning against the licensed "Mooring Pier and Backfield" project planned in Turgut Neighborhood. Neighborhood residents and officials express the view that the project will reduce clutter on the coast, prevent uncontrolled waste discharges, and contribute to tourism infrastructure.
