Downpour warning from AKOM: Temperatures in Istanbul to drop sharply
After rising to 18 degrees at the start of the week due to the lodos wind, temperatures in Istanbul will drop sharply on Wednesday alongside heavy rainfall; by the weekend, temperatures will fall to as low as 6 degrees, with winter conditions returning.
Weather conditions in Istanbul will be quite volatile this week. Although temperatures rose to 18 degrees on Monday due to the effect of the lodos wind, bringing a spring-like breeze, residents are advised not to put away their raincoats and jackets just yet. Temperatures will generally hover between 15-18 degrees, but a significant change is expected in the middle of the week.
According to the statement made by AKOM, which is affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), strong winds blowing from the south will cause the warm weather to persist throughout the week. However, despite these high temperatures, intermittent downpours will be effective.
Wednesday stands out during the week. The amount of rainfall expected on this day will reach 10-20 kilograms. Furthermore, temperatures will see a sharp decline, dropping to 9 degrees. Authorities advise citizens to be prepared for sudden weather changes.

By the weekend, spring temperatures will give way to winter conditions. Temperatures are expected to drop to 8 degrees on Saturday and 6 degrees on Sunday. Intermittent downpours are forecast to continue on both days.
