Endangered 'yellow-spotted newt' spotted in Batman
The yellow-spotted newt, also known as the Anatolian newt and currently under threat of extinction, has been spotted in the Hasankeyf district of Batman.
Yusuf Özdal, who saw the endangered yellow-spotted newt while hiking in nature, stated that he examined the animal after noticing it was different from others and realized it was a yellow-spotted Anatolian newt.
He captured those moments with his mobile phone camera.
WHAT IS A SPOTTED NEWT?
The spotted newt (Neurergus strauchii) is a species of newt endemic to Turkey, belonging to the Salamandridae family, measuring 14–19 cm in length.
Its population is endangered due to habitat loss.
